Leo C. Zeferetti (born July 15, 1927) was a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives from New York.〔(Election results by Adam Clymer, New York Times 3 November 1982 )〕 Born in Brooklyn, New York, he attended public schools in Brooklyn, New York University in 1963, and Baruch College from 1964 until 1966. He served in the United States Navy from 1944 until 1946 and became a corrections officer with the Department of Correction, New York City, from 1957 until 1974.〔() GUARDS UNION HEAD ASSAILS 'AIDE' PLAN New York Times 11 October 1971〕 Zeferetti was a member of the New York State Crime Control Planning Board from 1972 until 1974 and a representative to President’s Conference on Correction, 1971. He was elected as a Democrat to the Ninety-fourth and to the three succeeding Congresses (January 3. He represented the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn for four terms. In 1980, he was nearly defeated for reelection.
